Looks like a glitch (as the reddit thread indicates). DDG works fine on BSNL.
Note that r/India is very intolerant of views which are pro-India, and has consequently become an echo chamber for endia folk. I'd take anything coming out of this subred with a bucket of salt.
- unmole 6y agoThe fact that it works on BSNL means absolutely nothing. The implementation of blocking across ISPs is extremely inconsistent: https://arxiv.org/abs/1912.08590 https://arxiv.org/abs/1912.08590 > Note that r/India is very intolerant of views which are pro-India /r/india heavily skews liberal and anti-Modi. That is not the same thing as being intolerant of pro-India views.
- threwo4234rwef 6y ago> The fact that it works on BSNL means absolutely nothing. It means absolutely everything when 'evil intentions' are being imputed. BSNL being a PSU is a good litmus test for this. > /r/india heavily skews liberal and anti-Modi. That is not the same thing as being intolerant of pro-India views. It's certainly very liberal in banning people whose views goes against those held by the mods (one of whom is apparently Pakistani). Little wonder r/indiadiscussions is filled with complaints about the blatant censorship over at r/india.
- unmole 6y ago> BSNL being a PSU is a good litmus test for this. Yes, because our PSUs and especially BSNL are renouned for being agile and technically competent. > one of whom is apparently Pakistani I heard they are a Vatican funded Naxali CIA front.
- threwo4234rwef 6y ago> Yes, because our PSUs and especially BSNL are renouned for being agile and technically competent. Yes because clearly, a company which runs a large fraction of the national telephony/internet network, and regularly injects obnoxious ads into plain HTTP pages, can't find it within its abilities to write a few simple DNS/firewall rules, simply because some 'woke' dude on the intertubes will wake up to the 'evil plans' of the Gobermint. Keep wallowing in your 'conspiracy' theories my dude.
- thewhitetulip 6y ago> /r/india heavily skews liberal and anti-Modi. That is not the same thing as being intolerant of pro-India views. Oh it is now anti Modi. I remember back in 2014 when every other comment and post was 'wow Modi will transform this country, Mumbai and Delhi will become New York' I used to get banned just for asking 'how will he get the money to do so?' or for asking proof on past experiences as the PM's CM term of the state of Gujarat wasn't exactly as promising but /r/india had lost their mind worshipping Modi and hating Congress. They now hate both Congress and BJP :D
- castevictim 6y agoUnfortunately its those people who think criticising government policies are antinational are being convinced by government by banning of Chinese apps, meanwhile Chinese troops have captured Indian territory, written China in mandarin all over for satellites to see and butchered Indian soldiers. This was coming, very same people voted this party to power for supposedly bombing Balakot and killing terrorists when satellite pictures showed clearly that IAF missed the targets because PM asked them to bomb during cloudy weather. At least then this government only made IAF a laughing stock, but now its started belittling soldier deaths on Chinese hands.
- hunter-2 6y agoPro-India is not the same as Pro-Modi
- threwo4234rwef 6y agoSure. - Posts wishing 'Happy Ramanavami' are surely so "Pro-Modi" that they needed to be nuked to preserve the 'idea of r/india'. https://www.reddit.com/r/indiadiscussion/comments/g7mowh/snowflake_mods_of_rindia_worry_about_their/ https://www.reddit.com/r/indiadiscussion/comments/g7mowh/sno... - Comments talking about how the term 'Swastika' never attained mindspace until the English translation of Mein Kamf, or about how Hitler had did not borrow it from Hinduism; these too are things that are against the 'idea of r/india' apparently. https://www.reddit.com/r/indiadiscussion/comments/hhiz26/i_commented_only_3_times_in_a_single_post_before/ https://www.reddit.com/r/indiadiscussion/comments/hhiz26/i_c... r/india is so liberal that it has given birth to another subred to discuss the blatant censorship that place on it!
- thewhitetulip 6y ago> DDG works fine on BSNL This is the equivalent of 'works on my computer' > Note that r/India is very intolerant of views which are pro-India Pray tell me who gave you the authority of deciding who is pro-India and who is anti-India? Were your ancestors among Nehru/Gandhi/Bipin chandra/ other freedom fighters who gave their life for democracy? Were your ancestors among the brilliant minds who drafted the ideology of this state to become a secular republic and not fall in the dictatorship trap like all ex British colonies except India have fallen into? Who exactly do you think you are to distribute certificates of nationalism?
