- tomerv 6y agoMany people have some misguided belief in the power of deterrence. My point of view is that if you want to scare people from doing something bad, you need to catch it early (the "it's going on your permanent record" approach to scaring middle-schoolers into behaving). Once someone is a repeat offender, it's probably too late to change them.
