    It's a hellscape of boredom, not of pain. And many do choose boredom. A life of boredom was preferential to the alternative for much of human history.

        Obviously it isn't a hellscape. That was a term meant to evoke the negative consequences of suburban sprawl. There are plenty of positive things about it for people that live there.
