I wouldn't say Fielding was wrong, but instead that others had different ideas of what was more important to them. This is fair, but the problem is there is no canonical standard for the vague "RPC-ish API that still mostly uses noun endpoints but not HATEOAS and is a little bit different at every company usually for no good reason" thing that has replaced it.
