Seems nice but a bit fiddly and lacking backlinks, after trying numerous clones of Roam Research this finally convinced me to just commit to Roam and stop trying these things out, maybe one of these solutions will eventually be just frictionless enough to work for me but not at the moment.
I'm glad Roam offers decent exporting though.
- jevakallio 6y agoFoam author here! Fiddly, yes. This is very early stage project and in need of polish. Lacking backlinks, however? We actually got those, thanks to the VS Code Markdown Notes extension: https://foambubble.github.io/foam/backlinking https://foambubble.github.io/foam/backlinking
- elbear 6y agoWhat kind of friction do you encounter when using Roam? I'm asking, because I'm interested in this kind of tools in general and I might offer a general solution based on Tiddlywiki.
- aftergibson 6y agoNo, that's the thing Roam is pretty frictionless. It's web-based, no setup needed and isn't Roam-lite, or Roam-ish with some caveats around UI or functionality.
- elbear 6y agoOh, ok.
