Technically speaking, does Wikipedia just keep IPs of all exit nodes? Other than that, I'm curious what attributes designates traffic as "TOR" traffic.

- bawolff 6y agoYes, it downloads a list of all exit nodes. Code is open source and viewable at https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-TorBlock https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-TorBlock
- ryanisnan 6y agoGotcha. Thanks!
- ryanisnan 6y agoI'm curious why TOR would maintain a list of exit nodes so that this is possible?
- bawolff 6y agoTor is a pretty centralized architecture-the client using tor gets to choose its path through the tor network. It needs to know all the nodes in the system in order to construct a valid path
