Hypocrisy is an interesting thing because in your example the immediate reaction is yeah that guy is full of shit. However, there is also scenarios were the person knows better than anyone because they’ve been through something. A meth addict telling you never do meth because it’ll ruin your life isn’t being hypocritical, they are speaking from experience and regret that they did it.
- tanseydavid 6y agoA meth addict telling you never do meth -- does not amount to 'policy'. I think that a better comparison would be "a still-active meth addict who advocates for government action that would likely deprive them of the ability to continue using meth." In this scenario the addict actually has some 'skin in the game' as opposed to just preaching.
