> This has been driving me mad for the better part of a year Also here - I quit using desktop Safari just for this reason. I could write a full URL, press enter, and Safari would take me to a different page on a different website from my history. It then seems almost impossible to reach the URL I wanted. I got into the habit of copying the URL to the clipboard in case I needed to re-try, or use another browser. (This doesn't appear to be happening to me right now)
