Ah so I’m not going crazy. These things are just... the type of bug that indicates a deeper issue in the code. Poor software engineering decisions, and many of them. Mobile Safari had a bug for a year where the zoom function would get stuck somehow, breaking rendering completely. I wonder how that happened too.
