I have an Acorn Archimedes in my basement. Even though I don't use it anymore, I won't throw it out. I did a lot of things on it back then. It was just miles ahead of anything Microsoft did at that time. Good times.
- russdill 6y agoMight want to keep an eye on the battery if it's an A540, A3000, A5000, A3010, A3020 or A4000.
- ochrist 6y agoIt's an A440, but actually I also have an A3000. Are there any specific problems with these batteries?
- frabert 6y agoMost likely they leak and the contents corrode the traces on the PCB they're soldered on
- snvzz 6y agoThey need to be removed. Cutting them out is alright. If they haven't leaked already, they are about to.
- ochrist 6y agoThanks. The A3000 might end up in a museum, but I'll look right into it.
- logifail 6y ago> I did a lot of things on it back then I recall playing E-Type[0] for hours on the school's Archimedes back in the day. Cracking game! [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Type_(video_game) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Type_(video_game)
