To maximize focus I've used the "One system user per project" trick. It works well because now everything in your desktop has to do with your project (files/notes/calendar/bookmarks/etc) I've been able to ship a few projects using this trick. Not sure who was (Maybe Seth Godin?) who recommended using a different computer, which may even work better.
