It could be they are moving to the major version number being the one that is now incremented in each major release, in line with iPadOS and all the apple OSs.

It could be they are moving to the major version number being the one that is now incremented in each major release, in line with iPadOS and all the apple OSs. Eg. it will be iPadOS 14, not 10.14.
