I'm more curious about what caused the recent spike in "thank" showing up in questions and answers. 19% -> 23% in a couple months seems statistically significan

  Maybe because of home-office they cannot lean to the side and ask their peers, so they rely more on SO instead for basic questions.

      That's not a new problem at all, there have always been people who look at the site as a free code-writing service. Kind of the opposite of the "Thanks" problem are the question askers who complain that you didn't deliver them production-ready code.
