I learned this lesson after my recent business failure. I spent months working extremely hard to get the doors open only to find that no-one cared I was there. I didn't neglect marketing but I didn't push hard enough either. I think I got caught up in the fact that because I cared, everyone else would too. It's a very sobering feeling when you're standing in an empty shop on opening day wondering, "where is everyone?" Lots of lessons learned there!
