Thanks for clarifying the motivation behind your opinion.
- toomuchtodo 6y agoHousing doesn’t get built with hopes and dreams, and there’s nowhere to rent if someone doesn’t acquire and maintain the properties. Sorry to hear you take issue with someone providing essential services at a reasonable cost.
- darksaints 6y agoI have no problem with investors providing housing and making a profit off of it. If I did, I would be advocating for public housing, not zoning reform. But you aren't providing a public good for a profit in the true sense of the invisible hand. Your support for restrictive zoning laws doesnt increase the stock of housing, it restricts it. You aren't an investor, you're a rent seeker. Your returns on investment rely on increasing people's cost of living via government invention. Absent your support for zoning and other anti-competitive measures, I have no problem with your investment. But given your support for zoning, especially in the pursuit for profit, that opinion of you changes substantially. You're a leech on society, a zero-value added ball of greed, providing no benefit to anybody but yourself.
