And it is! I mean, if you're not going to use an electron microscope to measure it :)
The real measurements should be 840.9mm x 1189.2mm, but I'll forgive them for the rounding.
- occamrazor 6y agoAll paper sizes are rounded to the mm and the rounding is always down, so that is is possible to get two A(n+1) sheet by cutting one An sheet.
- jwilk 6y agoIt would be 840, not 841, if rounded down. Wikipedia says you should add 0.2 mm before rounding down (which gives you the expected 841), but it doesn't explain where that number comes from.
- brmgb 6y agoThe answer to your question is in the comment you are replying to. > the rounding is always down, so that is is possible to get two A(n+1) sheet by cutting one An sheet.
- jwilk 6y agoHuh? I pointed out that the rounding is not always down, and I didn't ask any questions.
- jwilk 6y agoAccording to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:ISO_216#Formula_looks_broken%3F https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:ISO_216#Formula_looks_bro... the number was addead "as a fudge factor to make the formulae fit the known millimetre measurements". Yay… :-/
- occamrazor 6y agoTo be pedantic: the A0 size is determined by rounding to the closest integer. All other size by rounding down.
