We're calling markov chains AI now?
Only the lyrics have been generated. Everything else you hear is just the musician, trying their best to sound like nirvana. No AI wizardry involved.
The lyrics sound less like an unreleased nirvana song, and more like a cut up of their previous songs. Which is to be expected when you feed a relatively small corpus of lyrics into a markov generator.
I get that this is just supposed to be fun. My point is that the title is misleading.
- WrtCdEvrydy 6y agoYeah, it's the reverse of regular AI where things that were impossible just become 'this thing that isn't AI'
- coldcode 6y agoIt's pretty decent imitation, but yeah I was hoping the whole song was AI. Then again most AI songs are still pretty lame.
- shaggyfrog 6y agoWhile I agree with your sentiment that this is clearly overblown, and perhaps the usage of “AI” these days to describe simple systems in general, your stance is too strong. Markov chains/models have always been considered traditional AI tools. At least it was taught to me when I did my degree in AI twenty years ago, using the first edition of AIMA. (There’s a whole topic called Hidden Markov Models, and algorithms for learning them using only observed events, like Baum-Welch.) There are plenty of people doing fun things using texts to build fun predictive models (look at Botnik Studios), but that also doesn’t mean it’s not AI.
- leaveyou 6y agoI totally agree with you but still.. it makes me wanna kill myself so it seems it's working..
