There is an experiment that anyone interested in compiler speed and the joy of fast iteration programming should do : trying a real fast C compiler: TCC (from Fabrice Bellard) On my computer, most of the time the compilation is finished before I have time to release the return key... And the generated code, while not highly optimized, is largely fast enough to test/iterate.
