Would you pay $5/mo for a hosted syncthing instance? A little surprised no one is offering that but I suspect the market is pretty tiny.

- _bxg1 6y agoI currently pay $10/mo for Dropbox, so yes, I'd say I would :)
- indigodaddy 6y agoHow would that be possible? Syncthing isn’t a hosted model is it? Eg, not client/server model— it’s more like p2p no? I guess someone could offer a service based on it with theirs being the hosted/cloud node, perhaps like a “master” node I guess? I’d imagine they’d have to hack on the syncthing code to achieve this? Not sure...
- _bxg1 6y agoGit is also p2p. Don't tell GitHub that that precludes having a centralized node :P
- anderspitman 6y agoPretty sure you'd just need to run it on a DigitalOcean droplet and expose the built-in webui with a password.

To a sibling comment's point: yes, syncthing is p2p, but I'd like to have one of my instances be somewhere off-premises and running all the time so I can synchronize between my office computer and a home computer without needing both of them running at the same time.
