I basically lost two good tech jobs back in the south because people started rumors about my sexuality. The gas lighting and harassment went on for over two years and has caused many psychological problems. Even now I think a recent job offer was lost after they contacted one of these previous employers. As we should be aware, there is a big difference between making a rule and enforcing one.
