- macdice 6y agoI have done some work on parallelism in PostgreSQL, and I was fascinated to discover Wei Hong's work in this area from more than a quarter century ago: https://www2.eecs.berkeley.edu/Pubs/TechRpts/1992/ERL-92-3.pdf https://www2.eecs.berkeley.edu/Pubs/TechRpts/1992/ERL-92-3.p... The POSTGRES 4.2 tarball includes a bunch of his parallel query work, which you can find wrapped in #ifdef sequent. I assume that this was a precursor to XPRS, and it was ripped out of regular POSTGRES after that. I wonder if anyone knows what happened to the XPRS sources...
