To me it is preferable to write JavaScript like it is 10 years ago (using slightly more rudimentary functionality) than to deal with transpiler hell and write shiny ES6 code. Old tech gets the job done and if you are aiming for stability, is probably a better choice. I know it isn’t exactly a fair comparison, but C developers don’t code everything in C18 and then transpile to C99 for maximum platform operability (I hope). We usually just use the older standard until the shiny new one is supported on the platforms we care about. I may know of one or two legacy C89 code bases that still exist that have not caused the sky to fall yet.
