I thought that the ROC (Taiwan) government recently adopted pinyin as the official transcription of Chinese characters. All the other countries with Chinese as an official language have done so (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia), so it seemed logical. Do the local governments of Taiwan administrative division apply other transcription?
