I want to doubt a billion dollar company like HSBC will have engineers who will install things just out of the box and leave it without properly configuring it. But, they are proposing to use Mongo just almost a month[1] after a report came highlighting several issues with the product, ESPECIALLY for use-cases like a bank that requires a very high level of data consistency, so your point might actually be valid. Would really be interested to know how something like Mongo ends up getting seriously considered for something like this, I mean the whole decision process that goes in to selecting something like this.
