The founder of GIF said JIF, who are you to debate him?
- yjftsjthsd-h 6y agoWhy, a Random Internet Commenter™! We have all the answers!
- voxelghost 6y agoI mean just because I invented the television it wouldn't mean it would be my right to claim that the correct pronunciation of TV was actually TP. But let's not get bogged down with who's right and wrong on the internet and focus on the important stuff.
- cs02rm0 6y agoChill out Geoffrey, it's not that big a deal.
- jspash 6y agoMaybe he shouldn’t have spelled it Gif then? (Just kidding. But I’ll say it with a hard G until the day I die. Because...G)
- michaelbrave 6y agoG like Giraffe or G like Gorilla. It's not worth time arguing about it.
- voxelghost 6y agoGiraffe, is a borrowed word from French/Italian, we're better off calling it a camelopard anyway. /s
- littlestymaar 6y ago> Giraffe, is a borrowed word from French So is at least one third of the English language…
- voxelghost 6y agoHence /s
- alpaca128 6y agoG like Graphics. Simple as that. Same reason we say "GUI" and not "JUI".
- whywhywhywhy 6y agoIt's Graphics Interchange Format not "Jaffics" Interchange Format.
- uryga 6y ago[you're probably joking, but in case you're not...] people also pronounce "GAN" (Generative Adversarial Network) with a hard G even though Generative is a soft G (J). and how do you pronounce "MUA" (Mail User Agent)? I'd go with moo-ah, even though it's not a Mail Oozer Ahgent :)
