- ISL 6y agoA protest can remain non-violent in the face of violence. Modern non-violent protests have succeeded against well-armed and violent opposition. I'd argue the world is better for it. When and where violence should be resisted with violence is a question for the ages, perhaps with an answer that varies with time and circumstance. I suspect that for the protests in America today to succeed, taking the highest-possible road of non-violence will yield the greatest dividend. The real battle is playing out in the minds of a multitude of quiet observers. The city streets are just one stage.
