"The shield is also 50 lbs, so it’s not exactly easy to transport through a crowd." That's putting it mildly.

- boomboomsubban 6y agoDevices covering a larger area could be used in a kind of modern day barricade.
- jascii 6y agoOr you could bring earplugs..
- cp9 6y agoearplugs do literally nothing
- jascii 6y agoFrom personal experience I can say that well-fitting earplugs did bring a significant reduction in pain-level. That is ofcourse a very limited and subjective observation, however: sound is sound, the laws of physics still hold.

- boomboomsubban 6y agoThe nice thing about barricades are that they protect large groups that may not have planned for the events.
- jascii 6y agoBut somebody needs to plan for those and arrange the logistics. Then, they end up being useless when LEO moves you elsewhere, and you probably lose them at the end of the day. I can stick a LOT of earplugs in my med-kit and hand them out when I see an LRAD..
- boomboomsubban 6y agoI think that we're discussing different things, as these aren't pressing concerns when building barricades.
- jsilence 6y agoSeen hippie girls carry this weight in a backpack thru Asia.
- ashtonkem 6y agoThere is a big difference between 50lbs in a backpack and holding 50lbs out in front of you.
