Imagine the cruft and patches that have accumulated in the past 42 years since x86 came up...
- ksk 6y agoOn the flip side, how many generations before a new CPU architecture becomes robust and mature to be relied on for critical work? We're still using crufty Wintel at work (vaccine r&d), its simply the best platform that keeps our investment in existing software.
- akmarinov 6y agoLuckily ARM isn't anything new. Even Aarch64 is almost 10 years old.
