Thanks, that needed to be said. Hopefully not all research communities are alike, and the behavior will be very different in the security/privacy community for example. That is part of the reason why I work in the latter field rather than in PL. Also, I really enjoyed this paper for the exact reasons that GP disliked it: it is short and understandable even with very remote and vague souvenirs or Coq.
