Is unlocking software illegal in the US?

- drewcrawford 18y agoIt is legal to unlock your phone in the US, as a special exception to the DMCA. Creating or distributing software that allows unlocking phones is not explicitly allowed under that exception. That is to say, it is illegal according to the letter of the law.
