I'm not sure if there was a time where this wasn't necessary, outside of a few lucky people. I could be wrong though. Even if you get lucky and your 3rd piece of content goes viral (which happened to my friend on TikTok recently, 350k views in 24 hours), the only way to capitalize on it is to keep consistently posting afterwards. One viral video won't necessarily pay that much cash and it won't necessarily build an audience over the long term.
