I have seen large amounts of intolerant people latch onto this philosophy always seeing it as a justifying their own intolerance. Never, ever do people see themselves as those who are so intolerant that they need to stop being tolerated for the greater good of society. So I've found this philosophy to be a bit self-mastrubatory way for the intolerant to fancy themselves as simply "bombing for peace".
I do find poppers actual philosophy to be interesting though. I'm just amazed how often the "paradox of tolerance" is used to justify gratuitous suppression and violence.

Something like "I disagree with what you say but will defend your right to say it" From a wonderful essay on the topic: > The Emperor summons before him Bodhidharma and asks: “Master, I have been tolerant of innumerable gays, lesbians, bisexuals, asexuals, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, transgender people, and Jews. How many Virtue Points have I earned for my meritorious deeds?” > Bodhidharma answers: “None at all”. > The Emperor, somewhat put out, demands to know why. > Bodhidharma asks: “Well, what do you think of gay people?” > The Emperor answers: “What do you think I am, some kind of homophobic bigot? Of course I have nothing against gay people!” > And Bodhidharma answers: “Thus do you gain no merit by tolerating them!” https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/09/30/i-can-tolerate-anything-except-the-outgroup/ https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/09/30/i-can-tolerate-anythin...
