I'm so tired of this bullshit. Fuck proprietary formats and fuck proprietary software. The only reliable, long-term way to guarantee that you'll have perpetual access to software that you rely on is for you to own a copy of the source for that software. We can have additional conversations about open source licenses and funding, but if you don't have the source, you will eventually be fucked.

Anything you create with proprietary tools is on a guaranteed path to bitrot and not being readable at some point int the near future.
