- ceejayoz 6y agoThe argument is: Cops are heavily equipped, given tremendous leeway to protect themselves, significant attacks on them are rare, and those attacks are met with overwhelming and immediate force. As a result, their job is actually surprisingly safe - your average window roofer is at more risk of on-the-job injuries and death. What's happening at "these events" are that cops are now instigating violence and suppressing peaceful protest of their activities. Not only is that unacceptable, but it works counter to the supposed goal of protecting themselves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_riot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_riot Showing up hyped up and armed to the teeth doesn't protect them, it escalates things.
- yters 6y agoi wouldnt say comparing to a window washer is quite the same being in the military is very safe, but most dont want to sign up let alone deploy to a warzone the structure of tgis argument is very interesting it seems we are saying the cops are responsible for how people react to their appearance, yet in other settings this sort of argument doesnt fly
