In my opinion that's one view, coming from an extreme form of rulership that was established (especially in Poland) after what happened during WW2: nazi occupation, mass deportations, concentration camps etc. etc. I come from the country with the largest communist party in the West and I believe it helped the people here to get more freedom and social justice that they would have achieved otherwise
