It's a feature not a bug. Things that were figured out in the 30's (such as Keynes) were actively fought against by people who didn't like the policy those economic conclusions led to. Mainly because those policies interfered with their plans to gobble everything up. Entire erroneous economic theories were concocted to wage their war.
