This actually is really good idea. While I don't use Python often, I wouldn't see this as a problem. By reducing a barrier, they might actually create something fun to use. Also, having a Raspberry Pi as first/default platform would be exceedingly welcome and good. I wouldn't mind Lua as well, Ruby etc. As long as it is something easy to use.
