nicely reasoned perspective.
language is important, we must take care of our words, certainly, but they can fail us too.
if there is 1 looter and 99 peaceful protestors, is it a peaceful protest or a riot?
no doubt this is delicate so it scares me when I hear that "if you're not vocalizing your support you're taking the side of the oppressor."
so this warfare is not just happening on the streets, it's polarizing everyone's ideologies to irreconcilable levels.
I really don't like any of this.

It is both, and the peaceful protestor must be very careful to watch out and squash agent provocateurs. Anyone causing unrest from within the peaceful group should be dealt with accordingly, not have their behaviour copied. And yes, this means that the crowd resorting to violence against the agitator (who is acting with violence) is a reasonable response. The trouble is that the demonstrating bodies are very often made up of naive, impressionable youth who haven't yet formulated their own strong opinions, but have been spoon-fed what to believe through academies and media. The crowd itself has the ability to twist an individual's regular reasoning and they'll follow the pack mentality. You can reason with individuals, but to reason with a crowd you need influence and a platform - such as that of the State itself. No shortage of examples where the State has led people to cause atrocities on its behalf. The polarization is certainly happening and worrying, but it is not accidental. There are people funding terrorist organizations like Antifa with the aim of causing unrest. Universities are being funded by China to promote communist values. Saudi oil money is being pumped into sillycommie valley to gain influence over tech companies, who then influence larger audiences. Then there are internal traitors who are probably the most dangerous. Basically, there are anti-American forces who want to disrupt the American way of life and many people, especially the liberal and privileged college classes, are falling for it.
