Unless my reading of it is mistaken, the Insurrection Act Wikipedia article seems to indicate that the state governors would still have the ability to prevent the deployment of military forces into their states.

Also, a cattle rustler was convicted in North Dakota using evidence gathered from a DOD Predator Drone. Some folks probably should have protested that.

      The "sad" part is the innocent victims whose property has been trashed by blatantly illegal activity. I speak as one who has protested, when legitimate protest spoke out against tyranny AND managed to leave public spaces cleaner than found (!). Floyd's death was tragic. The last week of illegal activity is tangentially related at best.

As I read it, the Posse Comitatus Act limits the scope of the Insurrection Act. Also: "The general purpose of the Insurrection Act is to limit presidential power, relying on state and local governments for initial response in the event of insurrection. The Posse Comitatus Act prohibits the use of the United States Army and Air Force (which has also been extended by executive direction to the Navy) for routine law enforcement."
