I tried to use this handbook yesterday to answer the question: “how do I start the SSH server on Debian?” and I couldn’t answer it. Compare this to something like the FreeBSD handbook [1], where the information is very easy to find. I’d imagine it doesn’t cover that specifically because almost all services start automatically when they’re installed on Debian.

  It doesn't cover it generally, either. What you have just stated appears nowhere in the headlined Handbook.
