  Please don't. Whatever you think of CNN, cnn.com isn't banned on HN. It's downweighted, like most major media sites, but that's a separate issue.     In what ways, or methods available to HN users, do we have to moderate posts and sites? Flagging seems like the only means at a story level, but in most cases not appropriate. Are comments the recommendation?

      I empathize with this a bit; it has been super frustrating to me to be exposed to what I consider subpar sources. However, after quite a few frustrations with this site, I read a lot of dang's comments about the nature of this site. He says, in a different and much more eloquent way, that it is tough for people to see different views that they disagree with vehemently after they thought that HN was a home to them. It shocks and hurts people, and it did so to me for quite some time. I feel like a corollary to this idea is that this site, HN, is for everyone, not individual users. It is unsharded, with no bubbles of opinion to retreat to. There are plenty of sites where you can moderate what you see to a great extent; this site is not one of them and is at the same time more difficult to digest and many times substantively better than other sites. Not all sites need to provide you exactly what each of us wants; in fact, this site is made to challenge our perspectives. At the same time, the humble "hide" button does exist here. thank you, dang. Your writing is amazing and has completely changed my perspective on the nature of this forum. I appreciate your hard work and am sorry for my ignorant responses in the past.
