It seems a lot of people are advocating two things:
- Western social media companies are evil; and
- Freedom of speech is bad.
You may very well get rid of Facebook and freedom of speech, but I would like to just remind to all of you folks in the West that when you only have Chinese social media companies and no freedom of speech, there will be thousands of cases MUCH worse than George Floyd and you won't even be allowed to talk about them.
- koheripbal 6y agoIt's almost unbelievable that people are suggesting we take the power away from elected officials and hand it over to corporations. It's like the sky isn't even blue anymore...
- hkai 6y agoThere is a fake Lincoln quote that, even though it's fake, aged surprisingly well in the last 140 years that it has been circulated: > "Corporations have been enthroned. > An era of corruption will follow and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the republic is destroyed."
