False argument. News organisations exercise editorial, budgetary and managerial control over the reporters they hire to investigate and write the news they report. There is a tradition/expectation (sadly in very poor condition in these times, better/worse for some media organisations) of fact-checking before publication, with editor oversight of that investigative process. This is not, and can not be the case for social-media platforms. Drawing any equivalency between the two is simply bogus.
