We (a mid-sized tech VC firm) recently did an associate search as well. We posted the job listing publicly (e.g., LinkedIn) and got almost 200 resumes. Of those, fewer than 5% were women. And we are a firm that has more women than most (up to and including Managing Director level). I was stunned that the ratio was so skewed.
