I wish GitLab had a static site component. Even browsing simple files in a repository is way too slow. Everything is dynamic and laggy.

      Gitea seems much faster. There are plenty of CI platforms that integrate nicely into Git as well without all the bloat.

  I've witnessed and worked with on-prem installations of GitLab that are remarkably fast. Of course not every instance shares a load similar to the .com version.
