This is likely the most important question. I've been singing semi-professionally for the last two decades asas part of a wide variety of musical endeavors. What you need to do to sing in a choir is very different than what you need to do to front a blues band. Singing in a broadway-style musical is very different than singing, say, bluegrass harmonies. There is a lot of overlap, but how you approach learning stuff varies quite a bit.
