This may or may not be true, but what is fundamentally different from the Oracle suit is that the GPL holders take a very pragmatic view of violations. Release the code as GPL, or stop using it, and you're ok. I never heard of a GPL suit involving damages... not even sure it's possible. Oracle on the other hand wants either to hurt Android, or a (preferably large) piece of the pie.
