It's interesting that some things (even the same thing) reach the front page and some things don't though. It may depend on time of day, the interests of who's reading or checking "new", what other submissions are competing with it and perhaps who submitted it and/or who upvoted it. This has 111 upvotes now but even that raw number doesn't seem to matter; submissions can and do reach the front page with just a handful of upvotes.
