By 1984 the US government had spent over a hundred million dollars on research, or about $25,000 per person who died. That's comparable with what has been spent on SARS-CoV-2, a $2 trillion bailout and 100,000 deaths. The difference being that the maximum conceivable death toll is much higher for SARS than HIV.
- drewbug01 6y agoA $2 trillion dollar bailout - primarily to industry - is not comparable to $100 million dollars on medical research. That's not a valid comparison in any way, shape, or form.
