> when the looting starts the shooting starts
Harsh words, but at the end of the day, people will defend their property with a gun and have every right in doing so.
- sparkling 6y agoIf you are downvoting me, you are downvoting the constitution, so go ahead :)
- Hamuko 6y agoIs the US Constitution a sacred cow?
- sparkling 6y agoYes

A one-word answer to a question that was clearly probing for more details about your opinions is not an appropriate response.
- kfrzcode 6y agoIt is the supreme law of the land
- newacct583 6y agoTrump was talking literally about directing the military to shoot looters (it's right there in the tweet!), not expressing an abstract right of people to defend their own property. So no, downvoting you isn't anything to do with the constitution.
- sparkling 6y ago> Trump was talking literally about directing the military to shoot looters Uhm, no
- newacct583 6y agoQuote the tweet then.
- MaxBarraclough 6y ago> ....These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won't let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you! - 101404 6y agoSo, were did he say "to shoot looters"? That's just one possible interpretation, if you really want to understand him that way.
- pwillia7 6y ago> Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we [The Military] will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Who would he be implying is doing the shooting other than the Military that will assume control?
- MaxBarraclough 6y agoNo, it isn't one of several reasonable interpretations, it's what he quite plainly wrote. What else could 'shooting' possibly refer to, if not the shooting of looters?
- splitrocket 6y agoYes, extrajudicial murder to protect physical property, that's justice. When you care more about stuff than you do about actual human lives, your evil is showing.
- sparkling 6y agoOkay, please roll out the red carpet for the people coming to loot your home or business, good boy.
- splitrocket 6y ago"I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity. And so in a real sense our nation’s summers of riots are caused by our nation’s winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention." Martin Luther King.
